PETALING JAYA, April 3 Residents of Putra Heights affected by the recent gas pipeline fire are calling for clearer and more direct communication on the ground.

Many claim they are still uncertain about when they can return home or what steps will be taken for those who have lost their property.

Aziz Jidon, a 70-year-old retiree from Taman Putra Harmoni, one of the affected neighborhoods, expressed his frustration over the lack of updates.

"What is the government planning for us? We’re left in the dark, asking one another questions without any clear answers," he said.

“We also hope that those who are severely affected receive greater support in terms of accommodation and assistance in dealing with insurance companies.

‘Who will bear all these costs?’ he questioned when met at the Taman Putra Harmoni housing estate.

He emphasized that residents without relatives and those who have lost their homes urgently need a relocation plan and temporary housing before they can return.

Some residents expressed concerns that the temporary relief center at Masjid Putra Heights is unable to accommodate all the affected victims.

Earlier today, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 85 homeowners would be allowed to return tonight, pending safety clearance from utility companies such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).”
